I had lunch with my mentor and we mainly talked about internal issues of an organization. Below are the other topics that we discussed about.
LEADERSHIP
Leaders are accountable for their subordinate’s actions and work quality because employee’s performance would also reflect their leader’s performance as well. Is the training provided to the employees effective and efficient? Do they know what is expected from them and have they been given the right tools to fulfill those expectations? Leaders should ask themselves these questions to identify their part of responsibility besides of judging their employees.Knowing employees’ strengths and weaknesses, needs and wants is also a part of being a leader in order to utilize them effectively as well as motivate them correctly. Analyzing and identifying what the employees have been doing wrong is one thing, making sure they themselves know that is another and it is the key for a positive change.
INTERNSHIP
As I move from one job to another, I have to make sure my next job is an advancement, or a higher step on my career ladder. An important thing to do is know how to present my value as an experienced worker as well as a capable leader based on the previous jobs. Demonstrating what I have learnt in those periods and how much I have developed will allow me to negotiate for an desired position and pay.
