HANDBOOK FOR MENTEES
To gain the most out of the mentoring program, a mentee should...
- Think about what you want: Think carefully about what you want from your mentor’s guidance, in what ways you want your questions you answered by your mentor. The more you understand your goals, the more Mentor will help you.
--------- - Don’t procrastinate: When you have been matched with your Mentor, always remember to contact them within 1 week. Put this as your top priority.
--------- - Set your preference: when you first meet your Mentor, take the time to discuss how you want this mentoring relationship to be. For example, if you want personal or job / professional advice, you will meet once a month, you will meet in person or by phone or skype. ---------
- Getting to know your Mentor’s profile: Right in the first meeting, the mentee's mission is to get your mentor's profile, this profile can also be the Mentor's Linkedin profile. This is very important because, through the profile, you will understand more about the person who will mentor you throughout the upcoming semester.
--------- - Be proactive: If your Mentor has no response for a while, don't be shy about emailing or calling him / her one more time. He or she may be too busy or miss your email. Remember, your Mentor is enrolled in this program because he or she is interested in mentoring. If you do not receive a response after a few attempts, please contact the program's support team.
--------- - Be persistent: Even if you can't get in touch with your Mentor regularly, try to maintain a regular connection (for example by sending them an email every few weeks). If you don't keep in touch for a long time, it can cause the mentoring relationship to fail completely so try not to let that happen.
--------- - Share with honesty: The recap shared on Facebook Group should be written as honestly as possible and can convey directly what you have learned / improved (learning points) through each offline meeting with your mentor. This will be a great motivation for your mentor, as well as sharing lessons with other mentees. You are also encouraged to share these on social networks in public mode to spread to other students.
--------- - Connect: You are required to join the UEH Mentee group to update program's information as well as to post your recaps after every mentoring session.
--------- - Let us help: If you encounter any problems during the mentorship, please get in touch with the organizing team for advice and assistance. We are always here to help you build your mentoring relationship with your mentor.
